This day is about firsts, so here is the first day of 1941:
Wednesday, January 1st, 1941
Woke at 10 and was late for high mass again. Balanced my book at noon and then settled down for a nap. Jake came and joined me. Edmund stepped in for a while and then we dozed off till supper. Walked over to Jake’s house and Nellie and Caz, Jake and I spent a restful evening- I fell asleep again. Woke up for a late lunch and was walked home and so to bed.
Was it everything you imagined? No, it wasn’t, was it? It was a simple day and, well, a girl needs her rest.
Starting off the new year is also about growth.

Felt more like living today than yesterday. Sleep means a lot to one. I read the paper at supper time and read that Walter Zachowski is intending to marry. I worshiped him when I was a child, but his marriage doesn’t break my heart. Took a walk to the library and it started snowing.
She is moving on!
There is also nothing like snow to make it all seem fresh. Like you get a clean start.
Happy New Yeat to you, and best wishes for another year of years.
