I’m not sure if I shared with you that the choir Babu is a part of had a trip planned around a concert in Taunton, MA. It looked as if Babu would not be able to attend due to her attendance at rehearsals:

I don’t think I can go to Taunton with the choir cause I missed three rehearsals in a row. Jakey came up and asked me to go to Vincent’s with him, so I did and missed another rehearsal.
What the heck, if you’re already screwed, right?

Jane Krol visited me tonight and as I really had to attend choir rehearsal, she came with me. Our choir teacher lectured me but I’m still going to Taunton this week-end.
How does she always get away with it?
I’m glad she did because this trip made for a great story, (and more vintage pictures! Yay!)

Was a little late for the bus but made it. We sang all the way to Taunton and it took almost 4 hours. Stayed at the Hotel Taunton. Zosh and I were next to Joe Galina and Mike Mikhelzak and they kept calling our room on the phone all day. Attended the dance at night in our gowns which we had pressed on the bed with Senator Skibenski’s iron. One of the boys asked to drive me home so Zosh and I went and I had two boys in the back but she had more trouble with one in the front. Got to the hotel around 2 and then joined a quiet party on the floor below. Left after three and tried to go to sleep. Zosh was writing a letter to Eddie and I wanted to sleep so I started throwing pillows.
Hey! Times up you handsey boys!
I love how they are able to find what ever they need – an iron, as a senator, a quiet party at 2 AM? Just go to the floor below yours.

The telephone woke me up before 7 and it was Mike and Joe asking if I would like a steak breakfast. Got up and bathed and got to church. The concert was held in the afternoon and we did well. After that we had a plentiful and tasty dinner till about 8:30. Left Taunton at 9:30 and fell asleep on the way home in Tetchy Chibonski’s lap. They told me I was talking and tossing around in my sleep. Fun! But Techy is tops with me. He took care of me well. Arrived home at one.
I don’t know what my favorite part of this story is. Is it the boys using the hotel phone to continuously call Babu and Zosh. That’s one way to flirt, I guess. Or was my favorite moment when Zosh, spending not even 48 hours away from her boyfriend, had to write him a letter and Babu had to throw pillows at her. Both. I think it’s both.
I can’t believe the look on Babu’s face in this last picture. And the first one. She usually has a very controlled look when her picture is taken, like in the second one. Who took this picture to make her smile so?
Also, I simply love images of Babu and Zosh. It seems like they always have to be as close to each other as possible. Sigh! I wish I could have gotten to meet her…
