What I gave Babu for Mother’s Day

I ordered seedlings from a community organization I love called Gardening the Community in Springfield, MA and after I went to pick them up I decided to place them all – 153 of them! – on Babu’s kitchen table to she could see them.  Then I waited for her to wake up from a nap so I could see her reaction.

I was able to catch her reaction of video and I’m so glad I did.  This is a memory to treasure and I can’t wait for her family to see this loveliness.

The most stunning part of all of this is the connections she made.  (I also love how she talks to the plants as if they are people!)  Now, Babu is 98 years old.  When she makes connections you have to submit to her wisdom and experience and just know that the things she says are connected, really do have a connection.

These veggies, herbs, and flowers made her think of her parents’ love.  How  she would call him “Yushu” and pet his head.

They made her think of brand new babies and miracles.

So am I to take from this that gardening is love?

  1. Well you did it. Made me cry on Mother’s Day. First time today. Brought back memories of sitting in my garden with Mom. Thanks for sharing Babu on video with us. She knows the meaning of miracles.
